About Sierra Gold & Coin
Coin & Bullion Buyer
A coin collector since 1996, John retired in 1995 from a successful career in the metal finishing industry (electroplating). He had been approached by quite a few of his friends who had suggested that he open a coin shop in Grass Valley. After careful consideration and research, he determined that there was a need for a quality numismatic and bullion store, especially one that presented and provided a fair and friendly atmosphere. He opened Sierra Gold & Coin on November 13, 2010 and the rest is history. Now, the shop enjoys a large, loyal client base who acknowledge that John's shop is the place to go for great selection, competitive pricing and best of all, straight, knowledgeable conversation.
Grading, Attributing, and Appraisal Coordinator
At the age of 8, Patrick started collecting coins after his Great Aunt, who had returned from playing slot machines, gave him a Morgan Silver Dollar. That was about 50 years ago. Since then he has been an avid collector always educating himself in all aspects of collecting coins and currency.
An avid Morgan and Peace Dollar collector as well as an Error Coin and Currency collector, Patrick consistently strives to educate all those who seek information on a myriad of subjects within the field. A member in good standing of many Coin and Currency Associations (i.e. ANA, CONECA, PMG, NCS, NCG, PCGS, VAMWorld, SSCD and NGC, to name a few), he continues to educate himself. Over the years, he has attended numerous classes on grading, attributing, and history and continues to do so.
